Performance Appraisal Tip 3 – Perception Influences Reaction

Research has shown us that the extent to which employees believe that their performance has been reviewed accurately and fairly is more important than the rating itself. If your process is transparent and fair, employees are more likely to accept low ratings of performance or negative feedback. Getting them involved in the process and asking for their contributions can also increase perceptions of fairness.
